Mongo was the product of a repeat breeding of the one that produced Pasha and Dar. He was the biggest puppy we've ever had at birth and he continued to break the growth curve for us, though his son is giving him a run for his money. |
The shot to the left is Mongo at just 6 months of age. |
Mongo had an absolutely beautiful head. It was huge, broad, square, and black. It was absolutely amazing. |
Mongo went to the 1999 MCOA National Specialty where he won the huge 12-18 Month Puppy Dog class.Mongo had very large bone and he was just simply a very big boy. Just look at his leg compared to Donna's in the picture to the left. He weighed over 200 pounds at a year old and he topped out around 250 pounds. |
Mongo's size attracted a lot of attention from the people who have saw him at shows and he reveled in the attention. He was a very loving and friendly dog, and he was also very smart. He seemed to milk the crowd for attention when they gathered around him, carefully calculating when to roll over on his back, and when to "give the paw" and when to sit on a new friend's foot. |
Mongo even learned how to open doors to let himself in rooms and outside as he wished. |
Mongo finished his championship at 3 years of age taking his 3rd major. The photo to the left is of Mongo finishing under Mr. Kenneth Buxton entirely from the Bred By Exhibitor class. |
Mongo matured into a very nice boy. He's 3 in this photo. |
Occasionally, if our eyes fell on him just right, we could catch glimpses of his grandfather, Remo. The head study to the left looks very much like Remo's. |
Mongo took a long time to mature both physically, and mentally but it was worth the wait! |
Mongo in the few times Mongo was used at stud, did a good job of improving on size, bone, head type, pigment/mask, and temperament in his offspring. His son Junior is a prime example. |
Mongo was a joy to have in our lives and we will cherish every moment we had with him. |
